WE LOVE TO LEARN!

News for Parents!

1.  Welcome to Ms. Holman's third grade classroom! Visit this site weekly to see what we are learning in class and to get homework assignments!

2.  All students will need a three-ring binder/notebook to keep notes and other papers organized by Friday. A binder will be provided to those who were unable to get one.

2.  Students will take a weekly math and spelling quiz every Friday.  Spelling words will be sent home on the homework paper and will be posted on this site. Use your math notes from class to study as all questions will come from our daily notes.

3.  A homework sheet will be sent home every Monday and will also be posted at the bottom of this page.  All homework must be turned in on Friday.

Writing

We are wonderful writers and will start each day off with writing in our journals about the topic for the day.  Through this process, students will learn to use the Power Writing process.  After journals students will practice correcting a sentence while learning rules of writing mechanics, usage, and grammar. They will also learn to write in cursive during this time!

Reading!

We love to read and will learn to become stronger readers each day!  Students will have guided reading instruction, independent reading, and will practice reading skills in our centers!

Daily Math Skills Review

Each day students will take notes on a Daily Math Skills Review sheet. The math will review the following: Number and Operations in Base 10, Operations in Algebraic Thinking, Measurement and Data, and Fractions! Click on the links and videos below for help with our daily Math Skills Review.

Math P. A. C. E.

WE'RE MOVIN' ON UP!!!   During PACE time student leaders practice skills in the four main operations for 10 minutes each day.  Once a student passes one level, they move up to the next level.  We cheer on those who move up daily!  They move at their own pace in the following:
Addition
Level 1:  adding single-digit numbers  (4+5)
Level 2:  adding double-digit numbers without regrouping.
Level 3:  adding double-digit numbers with regrouping
Level 4:  adding four or more digit numbers with regrouping
